INDUSTRIAL PROTECTIVE RELAY MAINTENANCE
Course 102

This is a comprehensive hands-on course stressing protective relaying application and reliability to minimize production down time due to power outages.

Discussion and lecture covers basic relay operating principles for various types of protective relays. Combined with practical laboratory exercises and followed with classroom lecture sessions, workers gain insight to the importance of relaying for system protection.

Designed for electrical contractors, industrial electricians, electrical technicians, and engineers concerned with relay testing and maintenance in industrial or commercial plants and buildings.

Successful participants become value added employees.

BASIC UTILITY RELAY MAINTENANCE
Course 103

A hands on course, combined with lecture designed as the first of a two part series, provides students with the fundamental principles of protective relaying

Application of protective relaying is presented by the testing and maintenance of the most common relay types. Instrument transformers, over current, frequency, and voltage relay applications are covered in depth with emphasis placed on maintaining overall protective system reliability.

Designed for utility electricians, technicians, contractors, electrical engineers, or any personnel concerned with operations or relay testing and maintenance in power plants and substations.

ADVANCED UTILITY RELAY MAINTENANCE
Course 104

The second course of a two part series, this course is designed for experienced relay personnel who desire to expand and/or improve their knowledge of advanced relays and methodology.

Designed for electricians and technicians, electrical contractors and electrical engineers concerned with complex electromechanical protective relay testing and maintenance in power plants and substations.

The hands-on laboratory sessions and classroom lectures cover the testing and maintenance of advanced relays such as distance relays, directional relays, and loss of excitation relays, with emphasis on reliability load shedding relaying.

POWER SYSTEM PROTECTION
Course 105

Designed for persons responsible for the operation, design and maintenance of power system protection schemes, this course addresses system protection philosophies and practical relay protection schemes.

Participants learn to use and apply per unit calculations, phasors, and symmetrical components analyze both symmetrical and asymmetrical fault currents.

Various relay types and their appropriate application are discussed. Protection schemes for motors, generators, transformers and lines are covered in detail. Grounds, grounding and the effect of grounds on the protection schemes are an integral part of this course.

An advanced course for participants should have math skills and prior relaying experience before attempting this course. A calculator is required and a laptop recommended.
